BIke Powered Sound System

We have developed a Bike powered sound system which we have been touring the festivals with. So far we have taken it to The Moor Music Festival at which it got a good review from Joel James. Solway Festival (Solfest), Eden Festival, and have some more gigs at local environment centres.

We really feel that this is the best thing since sliced bread and are going to work hard to develop the sustainable power side of our work as much as possible. Great!

Grassroots 5

Back in the Uk after all of the snow melted in the french mountains! Did a lot of sessions! Really good time and successful with the music!

Grassroots number 5
Back in the Uk We put this night on. The proceeds for this went to Leeds Unity day permaculture area. £100 in total. They appreciated the money and It went towards a smooth Unity Day! Not bad for a gig considering it was outside of student times.

The Beat Hearder festival.

We set up and mixed video on the main stage of the Beat hearder festival this weekend.  We all had a good time and really identified with the ethos of the festival in general. Some of the bands which we collaborated with include Xpress2, Misty in Roots, and the Dub Pistols. The organizers were happy with the visuals and they spoke of a repeat booking for next year. Hopefully with a bigger budget so as to enable us to hire a big projector :-)

Grassroots-A success!

Our Environmental awareness/fund raiser on the 2nd of February 08 was a wicked success!  Dub and Dubstep from Dj Treekle, Beatnick, Josh, and High Pressure. Also featuring a Vital AV (audio visual) set using the new method of live AV Effect processing. Photograps of the event are in the Gallery-photography section.

We raised £750 on the door and £600 of that is proceeds that will go to Greenpeace and other local environmental projects.

Vital Sound

We have been designing a front loaded bass reflex horn for a 12v battery powered sound system. Which will eventually be mounted onto a trailer for the back of a bike! The main consideration for the design of this system is efficiency, being of major concern when using batterys, which is why we spent a year learning how to model horns. The horn is tuned to play down to around 50hz and does so quite nicely. Unfortunately to make it play any lower would need much more power so this is the compromize.

We designed this speaker almost from scratch. using the horn ratio from an 18 inch scoop cabinet. scaled down specifically for use with a maystar 250w rms driver (£10 from ebay!) we also shortened the horn length to 150cm to make it play slightly higher than a scoop. Thanks to Martin (Purple Pro Audio) and Phil (High Pressure) for the invaluable advice on this project. It would have been nearly impossible without ya!
